April 14, 2022 5:55:49 AM

This year Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will celebrate her 70th year as England’s and the Commonwealth’s Matriarch.  Queen Elizabeth II – who has held the record for the longest reign since 2015 –will become the first British royal in history to reach this milestone. It’s quite the occasion!

The actual date of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee was Sunday 6th February 2022, but plans have been made to celebrate the event in June the same for her Gold and Diamond Jubilees.

There will be a four-day bank holiday weekend from Thursday 2nd June to Sunday 5th June 2022, meaning Brits will be given two days off work to celebrate the Queen’s 70 years of service.  The late May bank holiday will be moved to Thursday 2nd June 2022 and the new, additional bank holiday will be on Friday 3rd June.

There are a series of celebrations planned for the new four-day bank holiday weekend.  These include

a special Trooping The Colour in London, beacons will be litacross the country, a special thanksgiving serive at St Paul’s Cathedral and a huge ‘Platinum Party and the Palace’ concert at Buckingham Palace will mark the occation and the Queen will attend the Epsom Derby.

Where will you spend the Jubilee? If not at one of these large-scale events why not plan your own celebrations with your neighbours and celebrate in the spirit of yesteryear with a Street Party or The Big Jubilee Lunch!  This will encourage friends, family and communities to come together, all across the UK, and enjoy a celebratory lunch or street party in their local areas.
